Russian minister says laying of Turkish Stream to start in 2017
MOSCOW, Oct 12 (PRIME) -- The laying of pipes of the Turkish Stream natural gas pipeline will begin in 2017, while both on-land and deep-sea parts will be finished in 2019, Energy Minister Alexander Novak told reporters Wednesday.
“At first, we will carry out survey works, prepare a feasibility study and design documentation. After that, we will start laying the pipeline, and the work will be launched in 2017,” he said. “The deadline to finish construction of the deep-sea and on-land parts of the pipeline is the end of 2019.”
He also said that work with Turkey on permits necessary for construction is going on well, and all documents that were needed to begin the work have already been received.
On Monday, Russia and Turkey signed an agreement to build the pipeline, which will consist of two branches with a capacity of 15.750 billion cubic meters each. One of them is to supply gas to Turkey and the other to transit gas to the European countries through Turkey.
